I have Received M. Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) in Korea in 1981 and Ph. D. degree in Mechanical Science at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden in 1989. After graduation, I have participated in the development of the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) code SHIPFLOW at FLOWTECH International AB from 1989 to 1991. I have been responsible position as the CEO for marketing and technical development of SHIPFLOW at FLOWTECH International AB during 2002-2009 and presently am member of Board of Director for FLOWTECH International AB since 2009. Besides having an academic background, I have a lot of practical experience from working more than 20 years in ship design at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME) in Korea. I have worked mainly with development of hull form and propeller design for various types of commercial ships, and have been responsible for leading and coordinating commercial and research projects in the area of hydrodynamics as head of the Hydrodynamics R&D Institute at DSME. I have joined SSPA Sweden AB in 2002 and presently working with several research projects as senior scientist at SSPA Research. Together with 2 other partners from DSME I have a patent on energy saving devices (PSS – Pre Swirl Stator), which have been successfully applied to various ship types, with an average reduction of 4~6 percent in propulsion power. I am the first author of well over 50 scientific papers in journals, transactions, conference proceedings and SSPA internal reports.
